Huracan Diving’s founders, enthralled by the beauty and perfection of the Blue Hole and Lighthouse Reef Atoll, dreamed of providing accommodations for divers. Lucky enough to be offered the building that is now our lodge, they founded Huracan Diving in 2008. We’ve always strived to offer the very best diving vacations hosted by friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. These foundations, laid by our original owners, have been nurtured and built upon by our current owner, Bernard Oulie who, recognizing this as a true gem of an island, is constantly improving facilities for our guests.

From owning his own vineyard in Bordeaux to living a piece of paradise in Belize, Bernard has an appreciation of beauty in life. His art adorns walls and galleries from Switzerland to Hollywood, and now the guest rooms at Huracan Diving. Undisturbed by modern conventions, he has the freedom to live and paint in an environment of pristine originality and natural wonder.
Rita, owner of Huracan Diving started her jet-setting in Germany and, via Switzerland, the far east, Canada and Florida now calls Belize “home” for much of the year. Captivated by the serene, cool Huracan House in the midst of the jungle, a true “jungle oasis”, Rita’s engaging conversation and passion for her guests make her a fabulous dinner companion and hostess.

Chef Minor is passionate about local products and produce. Hailing from the mountainous mainland, he was surrounded by local produce where his passion for flavors & cooking was inspired by his family. His travels in Mexico, Europe and other parts of the Caribbeana bring back to Huracan Diving Lodge’s kitchen a knowledge of international delights which Chef Minor will have no hesitation displaying to our guests! Known around the world for providing an ever changing array of island fusion cuisine, our Internationally trained Chef will surprise you with delicious new ways of utilizing local produce, poultry, fresh caught seafood and his own blend of spices, creative desserts and flair for cocktails will have you relishing your surface intervals… literally!
Even though the diving here is probably some of the best in the Caribbean, many of our guests return for the food we suspect, as the polished plates at the end of the meals seem to indicate. ENJOY…..

From diving other dream destinations in the caribbean, Allison’s main passion is the ocean and Island Life. From the smallest pipefish to the biggest shark and the strongest gust or lightest breeze she enjoys it all !
A patient and knowledgable Dive Master & Instructor for many years, Allison has swapped out the grandeur of city living and all the creature comforts for this amazing ocean/island and spectacular environment we call home – Lighthouse Reef Atoll, home to Long Caye, Half Moon Caye and of course,the world famous Great Blue Hole.
